Beaches in Europe

There are lots of great beaches in Europe. I'll highlight a few of the beaches that I've been to. I'm sure there are other great beaches out there. Great beaches depend on if you like sandy beaches or rocky beaches. Crowded beaches or empty beaches. Beaches in warm countries or cold countries. I've focussed on beaches that I have been to and they are located in warmer regions of Europe. Greece has some of the best beaches in Europe and would be a great start to checking out some good beaches.

Let me know what are some of your highlights.

  • Perissa Beach-Santorini, Greece- A long sandy black beach (black volcanic sand) that is very impressive. The beach sand can get very hot but you have to run into the ocean and that isn't a bad thing.
  • Biarritz Beach, France- A great surfing beach. You can try your luck at surfing or can watch the action from the shore.
  • Agios Gordos Beach, Corfu, Greece- The Pink Palace backpackers hotel is on this same beach but you can go down to the other end of the beach if you are looking for relaxation. The water is crystal clear blue and I recommend you go for a kayak and search out the caves near the beach.
  • Nice, France- It's a rocky beach so get a beach chair for more comfort. The views of Nice are spectacular. The water is warm in the summer and the views of the city are great from the water.
  • City Beach, Dubrovnik, Croatia- The beach is at the edge of the old town of Dubrovnik. The beach is centrally located and has great views of the old town.

Great info! Although I'm not too fond of rocky beaches, I would love to go to Nice. Thanks for the insight!

It's one of the Spanish Canary Islands. Although it's actually closer to Africa. It lies next to Lanzarote and Gran Canaria.

I like going to beaches. I will have to visit some of these beaches if I ever get back to Europe.
