Telus Whistler World Ski and Snowboard (Snowboarding) Festival

If you didn't have a chance to check out Whistler during the Olympics you will have to come up to Whistler in April. The World Ski and Snowboard festival is coming to town. The Telus World Ski and Snowboard Festival begins in Whistler from April 13th-27th, 2012 There are plenty of parties, ski events, music and arts at the festival. 10 days and 10 nights of partying. Come visit Whistler during the Spring. The sunshine makes the skiing unbelievable.

The snow this year has already hit the average for the year and it's only March in Whistler, BC so there will be plenty of snow to go around. It's one of the snowiest years on record in Whistler. There will be tons of snow when you come up to Whistler, BC. Make you way up here now!!

I recommend getting tickets for the Pro Photographer Showdown and the 72hr Filmmaker Showdown. I used to bartend at the Whistler Conference Center and working these events was definitely a highlight of the festival each year. Tickets are on sale now: (www.wssf.com). I just bought 4 tickets for the 72 hour Filmmaker event. It's the best event of the festival. 72 hours to make a film within a 100miles of Whistler. There are some funny films that people make.

The Pro Photographer showdown takes the best action sports photographers in the world and pits them against each other. Each photographer shows their best photos on the big screen to music and the crowd roars their approval for the best photos and the best photographer. Every year there are amazing skiing, snowboarding, mountain biking and surfing photos. These photographers are masters of their craft.

The 72 hour Filmmaker Showdown gives anyone with a camera 72 hours to film, edit, and produce a 3 to 5 minute film and film it within a 100km (60 mile) radius of Whistler. This is my favorite event at the ski and snowboard festival. It produces some hilarious films. This year the filmmakers will have to incorporate a surprise prop that they will be given at the Director's meeting. Should be a good night. There is also a 2nd cuts night the following night showing the films that didn't make the Filmmaker showdown finals. This event sells out every year so get your tickets fast.

The festival is now over for this year. By all accounts it was a good festival. I encourage you to come check Whistler out during the festival. If you couldn't make it come out to Whistler this summer and see the mountains in Whistler.
